The Industries, Energy, Labour, and Mining Department, Government of Maharashtra on June 08, 2026, notified regarding the approved Operational Guidelines and Incentive Framework - Maharashtra AVGC-XR Policy 2025.
The following has been stated:
• The policy aims to attract investments, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and generate employment in Maharashtra's AVGC-XR ecosystem. Eligible beneficiaries include new, existing, and expansion units engaged in activities such as animation, VFX, gaming development, digital comics, virtual production, immersive content creation, XR applications, and related services. Real-money gaming companies and manufacturing activities are excluded from the policy's scope.
• To avail incentives, eligible units shall obtain a Letter of Intent (LoI) followed by a Registration Certificate (RC) from the competent authority. The guidelines provide a framework for various incentives, including capital subsidy, power tariff subsidy, recruitment assistance, technology acquisition support, intellectual property creation and protection assistance, certification assistance, market development support, project cost reimbursement for virtual production studios, production cost incentives, and support for innovation labs.
• The policy will remain valid for five years from its notification and will be implemented through the MAITRI single-window system, with regular monitoring and annual reporting requirements for beneficiaries.
